Soar Counseling Services, Inc. mission is to embrace and support individuals, their families, and friends who are struggling with emotional and addiction challenges; enhancing individuals to reach their greatest potential and goals in all areas of their lives. We strive to educate individuals and families regarding the chemical medical imbalance of psychiatric and addiction disorders no different than any other medical condition. We are striving to decrease stigma and negative conotations of these disorders; and increase awareness, access to quality services, understanding, compassion and treatment for these disorders.
We offer services in our office at 1507 Beck Avenue or in the community to individuals, couples, and families.
Cheri is the Director and owner of SOAR Counseling Services, Inc. Cheri has 20 years of experience working with adults who struggle with chronic and persistent mental illness, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, family conflicts, at-risk adolescents, self-esteem, relationship, and abuse issues.
She holds a Master’s Degree in Rehbilitation Counseling from the University of Wisconsin—Madison, 1993. She practiced in Community Support Programs for 6 years, then a administration position for the County learning how the system works. She has owned and provided direct services for Soar Counseling Services Inc. since 1993.
In 2011 Cheri had an opportunity to move from Shell Lake WI to Cody Wy with her family. She is now expanding SOAR to Wyoming and to the world through on-line counseling. She works off an wholistic approach addressing spirit, mind, emotions and body. She believes in being solution focused therapy yet embrasing and working through emotional wounds.
Erin Haviland, MA, PPC is a provisionally licensed therapist working for SOAR Counseling Serivices. Erin began her work in the social service field in 1997 working in a therapeutic adolescent girl's group home for Easter Seals in Vermont where she was born and raised.
Erin has worked in both inpatient and out-patient substance abuse treatment facilities working with the dually-diagnosed population. As a Crisis Clinician in a community mental health program, Erin has worked with the chronically and persistently mentally ill in both residential and day-programs.
Erin also has experience working with the criminal population, having worked in a women's prison TCU program in Albuquerque, NM. She finished her BA in Communications/Public Relations in 1994 at Westfield State College in Massachusetts and her Master's degree in Counseling through Amridge University in 2007.
A single mother of three for the past six years, Erin enjoys working along side mothers and families struggling in the community. The SPMI population is also a strong area of interest and experience. She utilizes DBT skills, REBT, and Motivational Interviewing in therapy along with creatively exploring other experiential avenues for healing and growth.
ACT services of Park County are provided to individuals by a mobile, multidisciplinary team in community settings.
The goal of ACT services is to assist individuals to achieve their personally meaningful goals and life roles.
ASSERTIVE COMMUNITY TREATMENT is an evidenced-based practice that offers treatment, rehabilitation, and support services, using a person-centered, recovery-based approach, to individuals that have been diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness.
